Become a Member of SHG

If you want to connect with a large, diverse group of Seattle-area homeschooling families, consider becoming a member! Membership is free and open to all homeschooling families in the Greater Seattle area looking for connection and resources. We welcome those who homeschool independently (Home-Based Instruction as defined by Washington State law), those who homeschool through Parent Partnership Programs and ALEs, part-time homeschoolers, and those who practice any other method of homeschooling.

Becoming a member means being added to a private Google Group, i.e., email list. 

We do want prospective members to know that we place a high priority on ensuring new members are real people with genuine intentions of homeschooling in the Seattle area. Because we are a group that values in-person connection over anonymity, we try our best to make sure each person is a real human before adding them to the group. This is to maintain the safety and privacy of our families, and to prevent marketers, spammers, or bots from joining.

How to Join:

1. Meet a Current Member – To find out where to meet a current member, check out the SHG Events Calendar. If you plan to go to a particular event, please reach out to the listed contact person to let them know so they can be on the lookout for you. If you already know a current member, go to Step 2.

2. Get Their Email Address – Once there, ask other attendees if they are a member of SHG (not every attendee is necessarily an SHG member). Once you meet a current member (or if you already know a current member), ask for their name and email address. You will need it for the Member Intake Form.

3. Fill out Member Intake Form – You might also want to send us an email after you've filled out the form to make extra sure we see it! Send it to seattlehomeschoolgroup@gmail.com.

4. Check Your Email – After we get your form response (assuming everything is in order), we will add you to our Google Group. Gmail accounts will be added directly. If you use an email service other than Gmail, you may need to accept an email invitation to join the Google Group. Be on the lookout for that email!

Can’t Meet in Person? If an in-person event doesn’t work for you, let us know, and we can set up a brief video chat.

Note: If you are a current participant of Loyal Heights Homeschool or Tall Mountain Homeschool, you will be automatically added to SHG.

Questions? If we have additional questions for you, we may email you. Please check your Spam/Junk/Promotions for emails from seattlehomeschoolgroup@gmail.com, as they sometimes end up there. If you have questions for us, email us at that same address. Please be patient. We are busy homeschooling parents volunteering our time and it can sometimes take a few days to respond.
