MISSION: The Seattle Homeschool Group (SHG) seeks to empower Seattle-area homeschooling families to connect, share resources, and build community.

About SHG

The Seattle Homeschool Group (SHG) is an informal group of homeschooling families living in and around Seattle. We are connected by a private Google Group, which is our primary form of online communication. Our hope is to facilitate connections among homeschooling families by providing a forum where members can reach out to each other based on similar interests, age groups, geographic locations, or styles of homeschooling. 

SHG is run by homeschool parent volunteers. SHG is not a formal organization and, therefore, does not have a formal organizational structure.* Longstanding members of SHG have taken administrative responsibility for certain functions, such as managing membership, moderating the Google Group and Facebook group, and maintaining our website, events calendar, and resource directory. 

Outside of those core functions, there are various events and activities planned and organized by other SHG members. SHG families organize co-ops, host park days, plan social events, run special interest clubs, facilitate private homeschool classes at local businesses, organize field trips, and more! Members are encouraged to share about interesting programs and resources they recommend or have heard about, and to ask or answer questions posed by other members. The group is meant to help support, cultivate, and augment your homeschool experience.
